South Street Sam celebrates one year of iconic photos

One Philadelphia photographer is celebrating a full year of capturing people every day on one of the city’s most iconic areas, South Street.

Sami Aziz, otherwise known as ‘South Street Sam’, talked about his journey.

With 275,000 Instagram followers, Sam’s photographs often go viral.

“It’s couples, it’s families, it’s people out and about doing their thing and I really try to show that beauty in everyone from all different ages and backgrounds and walks of life so I think this project has really tried to illuminate that,” said Sam.

Sam’s inspiration for the project came from his own childhood memories in the area.

“I just felt like with South Street it’s the perfect place for it. I really feel like it’s the most fun, unique place to hang out in Philly so perfect for a photography project like this,” said Sam.
