Dozens of students from Girard College are now back home after getting stranded in North Carolina while on a class trip.

As reported on Action News at 10 on PHL17, they were on a week-long trip with Outward Bound, an outdoor education program.

They were supposed to come home last Friday but couldn’t get home because of Hurricane Helene and damaged roads.

Relief efforts are currently happening after the storm devastated several states.

Phl17’s parent company, Nexstar Media Group, is helping those impacted by this storm and you can be a part of the effort.

Nexstar is raising funds with the Red Cross and stations across the country.
