Dockworkers in Philadelphia and in ports from Maine to Texas are back on the job after suspending their strike Thursday night.

The International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance reached a tentative agreement on wages. The agreement includes a 62% pay raise over six years.

Both sides said they will return to the bargaining table to negotiate the remaining issues. They have until January 15th to do so.

In a statement, President Joe Biden thanked both sides for acting quickly to reopen ports and ensure delivery of critical supplies for hurricane Helene recovery efforts.
