This Hispanic Heritage Month, you can celebrate with Bilingual Family Storytime at the Parkway Central Library.

On Saturday, October 12th at 11am, you and your family can “immerse yourself in the rich and diverse narratives that highlight the beauty of Hispanic culture,” according to the Free Library of Philadelphia’s website.

We were joined in studio by Library Coordinator at the Free Library of Philadelphia, Mary Luz Marques, who talked to us about the upcoming event.

“It’s more than just story time so we need to bring some of the cultural items, like for example here I built my own traveling trunk from Peru, so we are going to use our imagination,” says Marques.

After the storytelling session there will be crafts and other fun activities for the whole family can enjoy.

“I think we need to bring that close culture communication with children and families, and we are living in a city in which we have more than 45 languages and we are living all together, so it is important to be in that environment and not being afraid of other cultures,” says Marques.
