Phoenix artist Leah Rei announces that paintings from her newest series, depicting abstract impressions of nature, will be on exhibit at the Celebration of Fine Art 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily, through March 24, at 18400 Hayden Road,

Rei will be in attendance during the show, where she will be painting and greeting collectors and visitors. She will also book appointments to spend time with collectors who may have an interest in commissions or learning more about her work.

“Nature is not just a sight to be seen but also an experience. I am working to explore the intangible moments, such as when the shadows and light shift, when the breeze rustles just the right way, or when the sun warms your skin. These moments are brief but substantial. As such, my art is an exploration of color, light, and texture with a sophisticated and thoughtful touch,” said Rei.

Rei paints from her studio in Phoenix and throughout her ten-year professional art career, her observations of the natural world have been the subject of her artwork and the inspiration behind her creativity. Her newest body of work incorporates her unique style of depicting nature in an abstract manner. To create the works, she uses mixed media, fluid acrylic inks, and adding gold and silver leaf to some works for depth.

She further explains, “I find the fluidity of the inks allows me to guide the painting with a mixture of intuition and intention. This approach lends an air of serendipity to my work as I find a balance between what is seen and what is expressed.”

Rei attended Arizona State University on an academic scholarship, choosing to major in fine art with a focus on painting. She also explored new techniques, including painting, drawing printmaking, fiber arts, and ceramics. She then began working with integrated techniques and mixed media, and informed her painting style ever since.

Recently Rei’s paintings were selected for inclusion in the third annual “A Womens Art Expo,” at the Marshall Gallery in Scottsdale. Her artwork is also on view at The Cobalt Gallery in Tubac and in December she was selected to participate a two-person exhibit at the gallery.

Rei also works individually with clients who are interested in unique works that suit their home or business by offering one-of-a-kind artworks by commission. She carefully tailors those works to suit the needs of each client.
