Metro Phoenix can expect both fewer extreme temperatures and isolated thunderstorms in the week ahead after a storm rolled across the area Sunday night.

Scattered thunderstorms are developing in northern parts of the state, with Phoenix experiencing a 15% chance of thunderstorms Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas of the North Valley close to Deer Valley Airport saw the most rain in the metro area recording just under one inch of rain, along with strong winds and hail.

Phoenix only saw around three-tenths of an inch of rain Sunday, which will help bring temperatures down slightly throughout the week.

The high temperature Monday in Phoenix is forecast to reach 107 degrees and will tick upwards as the week continues toward a high of 112 degrees on Friday. The low temperature is forecast to be between 89 and 91 degrees until the weekend.

Isolated thunderstorms will persist in the Valley with a 20-30% chance of storms in the second half of the week, according to the weather service.
