Get transported to the tumultuous world of 1930s bohemian Berlin as The Phoenix Theatre Company presents “Cabaret.”

Directed by the theatre’s artistic director Michael Barnard, the production runs from Wednesday, July 31, through Sunday, Sept. 1, and blends provocative storytelling with musical numbers.

Narrated by a mischievous Master of Ceremonies, “Cabaret” invites audiences into the world of the Kit Kat Klub. There, a struggling American writer finds his muse in the English singer Sally Bowles. As the ominous shadow of the Third Reich rises, the Klub's cast of characters must confront the looming darkness or lose themselves in the allure of the cabaret.

Featuring iconic songs such as "Don't Tell Mama," "Maybe this Time," and the titular "Cabaret," this production delivers a portrayal of a city on the brink. Barnard’s vision brings a fresh yet faithful take on the Tony Award-winning masterpiece that debuted on Broadway in 1966 and was adapted into a 1972 movie of the same name.

“‘Cabaret’ is a remarkable blend of haunting storytelling, comedic moments, and breathtaking music,” Barnard shared in a press release. “Amidst the gravity of the story, the infusion of humor provides a delicate balance, offering moments of levity and connection. And, of course, the music ties everything together, delivering an emotional and unforgettable experience that will resonate deeply with our audience.”

The cast for "Cabaret” at The Phoenix Theatre Company includes Maci Arms, Shani Barrett, Maggie Barry, Christopher Behmke, Johanna Carlisle-Zepeda, Alyssa Chiarello, Cameron Edris, Nick Gunnell, D’Mariel, Mike Lawler, Alessandro Lopez, Kelly MacMillan, Eddie Maldonado, Alex Partida, Sarah Rose, Lauran Stanis, Lia-Shea Tillett, Jacody Weathers.

Tickets for "Cabaret" start at $55. Call 602-254-2151 or visit phoenixtheatre.com .
