Etta Closed for Renovations Under New Ownership

Etta , an upscale Italian restaurant in the Scottsdale Quarter , has closed and will reopen later this year at 15301 N. Scottsdale Rd.

It’s been quite a wild ride for the restaurant since it opened in 2022. The company was founded by Chicago-based hospitality group What If Syndicate before it dissolved in January 2023, resulting in a new group, Etta Collective, being formed and saving five locations. Then, earlier this year, the new ownership group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, leaving Etta Scottsdale as one of the only surviving locations, along with one site in Chicago. Now, the restaurant has been purchased by Texas-based RDM Hospitality .

“We think there’s a real void in the North Scottsdale market for a more immersive and vibrant dining experience,” George Martin , chief operating officer of RDM Hospitality, said in an announcement.

The new ownership team closed the restaurant on July 22 and expects to reopen in September 2024 with the same name but a new, refreshed look and menu. The wood-fired oven at Etta will continue to be a centerpiece of the restaurant. RDM Hospitality, owned by Johann Moonesinghe , CEO and co-founder of inKind, has partnered with executive chef Todd Mark Miller , founding executive chef of STK, for the renovations.

“The revamped menu will be a blend of homestyle, authentic Italian dishes like your grandmother would have made with a modern twist,” Miller said in the announcement, adding that steaks and “fun, interactive dishes finished tableside” will also be available at the renovated restaurant.
