Kenny Chesney had a show in Phoenix on Wednesday night, July 24, but it was cut short due to severe weather that rolled through. Megan Moroney was able to perform as the opener, but before Chesney could take the stage, the venue announced that those in attendance should take shelter.

Some fans posted footage of the message put out by the venue on social media. The announcement can be seen on the screens on either side of the stage telling concertgoers to “Please seek shelter in your vehicle until further notice.” According to a report from AZCentral, fans waited for the weather to pass for up to two hours, both in their cars and under the amphitheater shelter.

Now, the venue has announced that the show in Phoenix has been rescheduled for tonight, July 25. Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater released a statement last night on social media. “Tonight’s show is rescheduled to tomorrow July 25. Doors will be at 5:00 p.m. and show will be at 7:00 p.m. for an evening with Kenny Chesney. All tickets for tonight’s show will be honored.”

Kenny Chesney Shares Statement Concerning Rescheduled Phoenix Show

Additionally, Kenny Chesney addressed the situation with a post on Twitter/X. “Last night’s show in Phoenix, AZ has been rescheduled to tonight, July 25. Doors will open at 5pm MST and the show will begin at 7pm MST,” he wrote. “All tickets for last night’s show will be honored tonight. If you’re not able to attend tonight’s rescheduled show, refunds will be available until show time tonight at the original point of purchase.”

The show was initially put on hold around 8:30 p.m., when fans were told to take shelter. About 45 minutes later, there was another announcement telling concertgoers that the venue was “hoping to get an update [on the weather] in the next 30 minutes.” However, fans took shelter until about 10:20 p.m., when the venue announced that the show was canceled.

Live Nation put out a statement to fans at the show, announcing, “Due to the continued lightning in the area and forecasts for the remainder of the evening, unfortunately, we will not be able to proceed with the show tonight. Please safely proceed to the exits. We will provide updated show information as soon as it is available.”
