The summer Olympics kicked off in Paris this week , which got us thinking about our favorite "French" things. Sure, baguettes and champagne are great, but nothing compares to the excellence of a good french fry. (How French is a french fry, actually? Though perhaps in name only, the association still had us salivating.)

Two weeks ago, we asked you to tell us which restaurant in metro Phoenix serves your favorite french fries. And you did not disappoint. We received over 300 nominations that ranged from classic staples to newer concepts, food trucks to bars to sit down restaurants.

Out of those 300-plus nominations, we narrowed it down to the top 7 most voted-for spots. Which one is the ultimate spud is up to you.

Here's a look at the top seven contenders and how to vote.

Meet the contenders for the Phoenix French Fry Face-Off

    Andreoli Italian Grocer

Recently a James Beard Awards semifinalist for Outstanding Hospitality, Andreoli Italian Grocer offers a unique Italian twist on classic french fries. The patatine fritte ($9.95) comprises Italian fries served with leeks and homemade tartar sauce.

    Details : 8880 E. Via Linda, Scottsdale. 480-614-1980, andreoli-grocer.com .

    Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co.

Arizona Wilderness is first and foremost an award-winning brewery . But if beer isn't your thing, their other claim to fame is the duck fat wilderfries ($9), which are seasoned with rosemary and thyme and served with an array of dipping sauces. Or order them covered with beer cheese and bacon ($12) or beer cheese, green chili and pulled pork ($14).

    Details : 721 N. Arizona Ave., Gilbert. 480-497-2739. Also, 201 E. Roosevelt St., Phoenix. 480-462-1836, azwbeer.com .

The Corral at White Tank Ranch

Buckle up, because this one is a drive. The Corral at White Tank Ranch is an outdoor restaurant, bar and live music venue located in Waddell, about a 40-minute drive from downtown Phoenix. But, according to fans, their craft beer-battered sidewinder fries ($5) are worth the trek.

    Details : 20300 W. Olive Ave., Waddell. 623-444-2688, whitetankcorral.com .

    Der Wurst Hot Dogs

Der Wurst Hot Dogs is a longtime pop-up inside Linger Longer Lounge. While their specialty is, of course, hot dogs, their hand cut french fries with curry ketchup ($8) are a fan favorite.

    Details : Inside Linger Longer Lounge, 6522 N. 16th St., Phoenix. 602-694-0342, derwursthotdogs.com .

    Eat Up Drive In

A bag of mixed fries ($4) at Eat Up Drive In in Arcadia includes curly, potato wedges and shoe-string fries all in one order so you don't have to worry about picking a favorite. Pair them with the house made "awesome sauce."

    Details : 4001 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. 602-441-4750, eatupdrivein.com .

    Luke's of Chicago

Luke's of Chicago may be known for its authentic Chicago beef sandwiches, but really, what's a sandwich without a side of fries? Luke's offers regular, cheese and chili cheese fries ($3.85-$6.75).

    Details : 1602 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. 602-264-4022, lukesofchicago.com .

    Zinc Bistro

If you're shopping at Kierland Commons, a stop for truffle and parmesan fries ($12) at upscale New York-style Parisian restaurant Zinc Bistro is essential.

    Details : 15034 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale. 480-603-0922, zincbistro.com .
