A Phoenix apartment complex has fixed its residents' broken and ineffective air conditioners following a demand from the Arizona Attorney General's Office, the complex's property management said Friday.

Attorney General Kris Mayes sent a demand letter to the property owner, Buenas Communities LLC, on July 19, giving the company one week to repair up to 400 broken or ineffective air conditioning units at their complex located on 32nd Avenue and Indian School Road.

Just before 11:30 a.m. Friday, Robert Farrell, an official with Buenas Communities, said the air conditioning was "up and running" in the complex.

The business was already facing 39 citations for violations of the cooling ordinance from Phoenix when the demand letter was sent, according to the city's Neighborhood Services Department. Notices of violations were initially issued to the owner on July 9.
