A man who was operating a motorcycle died Friday after a collision with another vehicle near 52 nd Avenue and McDowell Road, police said.

Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating the crash, which occurred about 12:15 p.m.

Preliminary information suggests the motorcycle rider, who police did not identify, was going west on McDowell Road when the other vehicle involved made a left turn in front of him, causing the collision. The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital but did not survive.

The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene, and impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision, police said.

Charging decisions will be made after an accident reconstruction process, police said.
