Wheel of Fortune's New Host Is from Georgia: Here's What You Should Know!

After Pat Sajak retired from being the Wheel of Fortune host, a new host was announced and guess what? They are from our very own state of Georgia. The new host is no other than Ryan Seacrest!

Ryan Seacrest was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 24, 1974. He is the son of homemaker Constance Marie and real estate layer Gary Lee Seacrest. His father served in the United States Army as a lieutenant. His grandfather Henry Gene Skeen was a major general in the United States Army.

Ryan attended Dunwoody High School and at the age of 16 years old while still attending Dunwoody High School he won an internship at WSTR in Atlanta where Tom Sullivan trained him in radio.

When a regular DJ called in sick, Sullivan placed Seacrest on the air for the first ever time ever in his career in broadcasting. He was given the weekend overnight shift at WSTR. He continued working for the radio station until he graduated high school.

After graduating Dunwoody, Seacrest went on to attend the University of Georgia in the Fall of 1992 to study journalism. He continued to work for a local radio station in Athens, Georgia while attending college.

He left UGA at 19 years old and moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career in broadcasting.

In 2002, Seacrest accepted the position of being the co-host of the new Fox reality television series American Idol.

Seacrest went on to become the co-host and served as an executive producer of Live with Kelly and Ryan. Seacrest remained the co-host for 6 years. After 6 years, Seacrest announced that he would be leaving Live in the Spring of 2023.

Seacrest has now been announced as the new host of the famous television game show Wheel of Fortune.
