Refreshing Summer Fruit Cocktail: Easy Recipe!

    2024-08-09

Nothing is more refreshing than a nice cup or bowl of Fruit Cocktail to cool off in the Summer months and the best part is it only takes a few ingredients to make and you don't have to even can it to eat it, you just have to cook it!

    Ingredients:

4 Oranges or Nectarines (peeled and cut into chunks)

1 Cup of Red Cherries (pitted and halved)

    1 Cup of Pineapple Chunks

    2 Peaches (peeled and diced)

    2 Pears (peeled and diced)

    2 Cups of Water

    1 Cup of Sugar

    Juice from 1 Lime

    Directions:

In a saucepan, heat the 2 cups of water, 1 cup of sugar and lime juice. Stir the mixture occasionally until all of the sugar is completely dissolved in the water and juice mixture.

Once the sugar in the liquid syrup mixture is dissolved. Take the liquid mixture off of the stove and place to the side.

Rinse all of your fruit. Begin pitting your cherries and peeling your peaches, pears, nectarines and oranges.

In a large bowl, combine all of your fruit (oranges, nectarines, cherries, peaches, pears and pineapple).

Once you have combined all of your fruit, pour the sugar syrup over the top of the fruit and stir the mixture to coat the fruit well.

Refrigerate the Fruit Cocktail until the mixture is completely chilled. This takes on average at least 1 hour.

There is also a recipe for canning Fruit Cocktail which my family does as well and the ingredients are still pretty much the same except we make a simple syrup to can and preserve the cocktail with versus using just a normal sugar syrup.
