Granny's Homemade Taco Salad: Easy & Delicious!

Now this recipe has been in my family for years. I remember as a young child going to eat at my grandparents house along with my parents and uncle and eating a big ole’ bowl of taco salad. Of course as a child I wasn’t much for the vegetable portion of the platter but hey the Doritos, meat, onion and Italian salad dressing mixture was delicious! Now days I eat my vegetables a little better and understand their benefits! Anyways I hope you enjoy this recipe!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 lbs of Ground Beef

1 Head of Lettuce (washed and shredded

2 Medium Tomatoes (diced finely)

1 Can of Kidney Beans

1 Medium Onion (diced)

1 Avocado (cut into small chunks)

1 Jar of Taco Sauce

1 Small Bottle of Italian Salad Dressing

1 Bag of Cheddar Cheese

1 Bag of Nacho Flavored Chips

1/2 Cup of Water

1 Pack of Taco Seasoning

Directions:

Dice up your onions into small pieces on a cutting board and place them to the side.

In a large skillet add the 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef and the onions. Cook the mixture until the ground beef is browned and cooked through.

Using a strainer, drain the ground beef and onions and place it back into the skillet. Add the kidney beans, taco seasoning, and 1/2 cup of water and cook for 5 minutes.

Let the meat cool completely and while the meat is still cooling, use a large bowl and toss the lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, taco sauce, italian dressing and nacho chips. Add the cooled gound beef and mix together. Serve immediately.
