Now you may be thinking to yourself at this point that cat nights is the same as Dog Days but that is no where near the case.

The story of cat nights has been told since the time that people believed in witchcraft and is said to have orginated as an Irish legend.

It is said that a witch can turn herself into a cat eight times but by the 9th time which would occur on August 17th, she would turn herself into a cat but could not regain her human form and would have to continue living as a cat.

As Summer begins heading to a close, the shorter the days are getting and the longer the nights are getting and with all that being said it is a great time for the cats to be out lurking in the night!

Cats are crepuscular animals and are nocturnal hunters, so they love to hunt during the dark hours of night and it is even said that the cats own the nights.

August is the yowly time for cats and this folktale may have even originated the story of witches being on the prowl.

This story is where the term that a "cat has 9 lives" comes from. So the next time you spot a cat think to yourself is it a cat or is it indeed a witch?

This tale truly gets you into the early Halloween spirit doesn't it?
