This Tuesday, September 17th, the Full Harvest Moon is set to appear in the night sky and experience a partial lunar eclipse.

The eclipse is set to appear in the skies of both North America and South America with the exception of the state of Alaska.

The eclipse is set to take place during the "supermoon" event which causes the full moon to appear to be slighly larger than usual in the sky. This is caused when the moon is closer to earth because of the moon's orbit being more slightly in an oval shape.

Lunar eclipses occur when the sun, earth and the moon are lined up so that the earth casts its shadow on the natural satellite.

During this lunar eclipse with the Harvest Moon, the eclipse is set to only cover 8.7% of the top of the moon but it will still be an event to see!

For here in the state of Georgia the event is set to take place and begin at around 8:40pm EDT on the evening of September 17 which is only 2 days away!

The eclipse is set to peak at around 10:44pm EDT.

I hope that you all here in the "peach state" get the chance to see this incredible event of not only the eclipse but the large super "Harvest Moon".

The eclipse is set to even be seen in Europe, most of Africa, parts of Antarctica and western Asia.
