Southern-Style Slow Cooked Pinto Beans: Simple & Delicious!

This is my families simple and easy Southern recipe for slow cooked pinto beans. Pinto beans are a common dish found across the Southern United States and is served as a side dish for many main food courses including fried chicken, fried cubed steak, fried or baked pork chops or just a simple side to a vegetable dinner. Either way they are absolutely delicious!

Ingredients:

2 Cups of Dried Pinto Beans

Salt and Pepper (to taste)

4 Tablespoons of Salted Butter

Directions

The night before you cook the beans, open the package of beans up and place the beans into a bowl and let the pinto beans soak overnight in a bowl of water until they double in size. (You will need to cover the beans at least 3 - 4 inches with water for them to soak)

The next morning, place the soaked pinto beans into a slow cooker and cook the beans on high for around 6 - 8 hours.

After 6 to 8 hours are up and the beans get done, add the 4 tablespoons of salted butter and at least a teaspoon of salt and black pepper to the pinto beans. Stir well.

My family even sometimes uses the leftover pinto beans to make chili for the next day.

This is a very simple easy dish that works fantastic when you are on the go and do not have very much time to cook as it really just takes about 5 minutes of prep the night before!
