Tuesday night’s Picayune City Council meeting recognized several individuals for their contributions and achievements. Councilmember Anna Turnage was absent from the meeting.

Janet Guidry, the Fire Station Secretary, was honored for her 32 years and 10 months of service to Picayune. Guidry noted that she was the first secretary for the fire department and helped build its administrative foundation. City Manager Harvey Miller acknowledged her dedication: “She is such a blessing and is leaving a legacy.”

Two young women from Pearl River County were also recognized for their achievements in state competitions. Adleigh Fricke, named Pearl River County’s Distinguished Young Woman for 2025, spoke about her experience, mentioning the friendships she made and the lessons she learned. Helena Hansen, Pearl River County’s Miss Hospitality 2024, shared that meeting diverse people and learning about their backgrounds was a valuable experience.
