In preparation for Memorial Day, members of the Pickaway Shooting Sports 4-H Club spent Saturday placing American flags on the graves of veterans buried in Forest Cemetery.

More than 1,300 veterans, with many graves dating back longer than two centuries, are buried in the cemetery. While part of the 52-member club placed flags on graves throughout the 50-acre cemetery, others took on the task of cleaning some of the older veteran monuments.

The 4-H club has been involved in placing flags on the graves for the past several years.

The Soldiers Monumental Association of Pickaway County supplied the 4-H members and their advisors with flags, brushes and cleaning solutions.
