SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A fifth-grade boy from Goshen is set to run the bases at Friday’s South Bend Cubs game as part of their “Home Run for Life” program with Beacon Children’s Hospital. Braxton Miller is a warrior. He is the typical 11-year-old boy who loves to play sports. “Braxton is a very energetic 11-year-old. He loves baseball, basketball, all kinds of sports. He likes Notre Dame, Notre Dame teams,” said Paivi Hiltunen-Miller, Braxton’s mother. Braxton was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia back in October of 2022. “It started in September 2022 when he started getting sick,” Paivi said....
Storm recovery still underway in Elkhart
Elkhart continues to recover from the storms that blew through on Monday evening. “It really feels like we’ve turned a corner and the worst of the storm is behind us. We continue to be grateful that Elkhart came out of this event without any injuries or fatalities. The work of cleanup and meeting the immediate needs of our residents is ongoing.
