That was evident throughout The Valley and Vermont in the aftermath of July 10 flooding that heavily damaged local roads, especially those in Fayston, Moretown, Duxbury and Waterbury.
1 man killed in South Hero crash
SOUTH HERO, Vt. (WCAX) - Police say one man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in South Hero. It happened at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on US Route 2. Vermont State Police say Robert Goddard, 77, of Little River, South Carolina, was headed north in an SUV when he went off the road and hit a cement culvert. Troopers say Goddard died of his injuries.
Fairlee woman accused of wrong-way driving while drunk with 5 kids in car
Fairlee, VT- A Fairlee woman is scheduled to be in court at the end of the month after police say she was drunk while driving with 5 kids in the car. Police say Rachael Rich, 37, from Thetford, was driving the wrong way on US 5 North in Fairlee around 10 p.m. last Saturday. Bystanders were able to get Rich to stop before troopers arrived.

Residents, businesses in Northwood, NH told to shelter in place during police incident
Residents and businesses in an area of Northwood, New Hampshire, were told to shelter in place during an undisclosed police incident on Wednesday night. Shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Northwood police said in a post on Facebook that due to "a contained police incident" in the area of Ridge Road and Route 4, they were asking residents to avoid the area and to shelter in place.
