    Pioneers end season in elimination bracket finals

    The Pierz Pioneers baseball team ended the season, playing Albany in the Section 6AA elimination bracket semi final Thursday, June 6. The Pioneers fell 10-3.

    The Pioneers batters with runs batted in were Max Barclay, Weston Woitalla and Joey Stuckmayer. Those who scored runs were Reese Young, Kaden Kruschek and Kyle Wincher.

    Leading the Pioneers on the mound was Brayden Haberman, pitching for over four innings and throwing six strikeouts. Chase Becker pitched one inning and threw one strikeout.

    Albany finished the game with 11 hits and no errors. The Pioneers had 10 hits and one error.

    Earlier in the day, The Pioneers finished the elimination bracket semifinals game against St. Cloud Cathedral after a portion of the game was delayed from Wednesday, June 5 due to weather. In the end, the Pioneers won 8-1.

    The Pioneers scored two runs in the second and fourth innings, but scored the most in the third inning, with four. Kruschek and Bo Woitalla earned two runs batted in during the game. Young and Joey Stuckmayer each had one run batted in.

    Young pitched all seven innings, throwing five strikeouts and allowing three walks. The Pioneers had 10 hits while St. Cloud Cathedral had eight. Both teams had two errors. The Pioneers ended the season with a 14-7 record and 10-4 in the conference.
