Unless you're a storm chaser, Dolly Parton 's Dollywood theme park was not the place to be on Sunday.

Severe weather and flash flooding hit the country legend's landmark attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and now, new photos showing the Knoxville-area amusement park underwater on July 28 have surfaced online.

Development director and host of Americana Pulse on WDVX radio Nelson Gullett recalled how he and his family "barely escaped" from the park as nearly five inches of rain made landfall.

"I still love Dollywood…" Gullett wrote alongside a handful of new photos he shared documenting the wild weather conditions. "But we barely escaped today."

"The first pic is one my daughter took of water coming down from the Splash Country lot as we were leaving," he added, explaining he found the others on social media. "Hope everyone gets out alright."

In a follow-up response, Gullett explained that he was among the last to be able to leave.

"I drove through more standing water than I was really comfortable with… but the car in front of me made it… sooo…" he wrote , noting that he hadn't "seen anything like it in a while." Someone else described it as "crazy (and scary)!"

Footage of the flooding has also been shared by several other parkgoers , with more clips uploaded to TikTok showing water rushing through the walkways.

The Pigeon Forge Police Department announced at 8:30 p.m. EST on Sunday that the road leading into the Dollywood park entrance was closed due to a road collapse, according to local ABC affiliate Channel 6 News . Sevier County was also under a Flash Flooding Warning until 10:45 p.m.

In a statement shared to its social media pages Sunday evening, the park confirmed at least one minor injury had been reported. "This afternoon, Sunday, July 28, a strong thunderstorm caused flash flooding at Dollywood. With the assistance of Pigeon Forge Police and Fire Departments, park personnel directed guests to safety during the storm. At this time, one minor injury has been reported."

"Dollywood is supporting guests whose vehicles were affected by this weather event, and cleanup crews have been deployed," the post continued, telling prospective guests that park officials will continue to assess conditions and determine whether the park will reopen as scheduled on Monday, July 29. Updates will be posted to Dollywood's social media pages as they become available, the park said.

As of 7 a.m. local time, the flood water in Sevier County had receded significantly, though this week's forecast includes the chance of more rain.

The potentially impending bad weather doesn't seem to have much of an impact on the park's plans, though, as Channel 6 reported Dollywood is scheduled to reopen Monday at noon.
