Zebulon United Methodist Church destroyed by fire after suspected lightning strike
ZEBULON - Zebulon United Methodist Church’s historic sanctuary was destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon by what fire investigators suspect was a lightning strike. According to news reports, the Pike County Fire Department responded around 4 p.m. to the church, located on the corner of Griffin and Banks streets, after people nearby reported hearing a loud boom of thunder and saw fire coming from the steeple.
