77-year-old RV driver dies after being found trapped in remote area after storms pass through, sheriff says
PEORIA (WEEK/Gray News) - A 77-year-old RV driver from New York died after he was found stranded in Illinois after an extensive search conducted by authorities. According to Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins, John F. Dubaic died shortly after search crews found him in the brush close to the Spoon River near Elmore.
Two area animal shelters stop adoptions amid dog flu outbreak
The Montgomery Humane Society has closed its dog adoptions after an outbreak of dog influenza infected the canines. The illness has spread to all adoptable dogs and some puppies, said Lea Turbert, the humane society's marketing manager. The Humane Society of Elmore County is also impacted by the outbreak. ACTION 8 UPDATE: Montgomery police are launching a homicide investigation after a teenage shooting victim’s death. As Action 8 News has reported, police say at about 4:32PM yesterday, they were called to a hospital where two 16-year-old males were being treated for gunshot wounds. Police said one of the teen’s wounds were life-threatening, and he later died.

On Saturday, July 27, 2024, at about 12:46 a.m., MPD and Fire Medics responded to the 2600 block of Jan Drive in reference to a subject shot. Rayonta Fuller-Anderson, 26, of Montgomery, sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on the scene. MPD also made contact with an adult male who sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Saba Coleman tells Action 8 News that around 12:46 a.m., officers and fire medics responded to the 2600 block of Jan Drive in regards to a person shot. Student Spotlight – SEHS Cross Country’s Tristen Jones Competes in the AHSAA All Star Weekend
Stanhope Elmore High School Senior Tristen Jones is coming off a historic junior season running cross country for the Mustangs. As a junior, Jones set several school records. Jones finished in 1st place at the Fear the Flame Race in Opelika. He also finished in 1st place in the sectionals for Class 6A Section 2 at Auburn High School. In the race, Jones’ twin brother, Dominic, finished 2nd place just two-tenths of a second behind.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at about 4:32 p.m., MPD responded to a local hospital in reference to subjects shot. Contact was made with two 16-year-old Juvenile Male victims: one juvenile male who sustained a non-lifethreatening gunshot wound and one juvenile male who sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound and was later pronounced deceased.It was later determined that the offense occurred in the area of Hilldale Drive.
