Perry Hall church to hold back-to-school drive for PHMS
NOTTINGHAM, MD—School supplies for students in need will be collected at a Perry Hall church in August. Perry Hall Presbyterian Church will hold a back-to-school drive for students at Perry Hall Middle School on Saturday, August 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is being sponsored by Perry Hall Lodge No. 235.
Maryland adds 5,600 jobs in June, unemployment rate creeps higher
BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland added 5,600 total jobs in June, including 3,900 in the private sector, according to monthly data released by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. The growth rate last month (0.2 percent) was double the national rate (0.1 percent).

14-year-old dies in double shooting at Mondawmin Metro Station
BALTIMORE - A double shooting at the Mondawmin Metro Station in West Baltimore left a teen dead, and another person injured according to police.Two people were found at the metro station at the 2300 block of Liberty Heights Avenue with gunshot wounds. Both individuals were hospitalized. Police said Jasper Davis, 14, was pronounced dead at the hospital. According to the Maryland Transit Administration, bus service was temporarily canceled because of the police investigation. Service has since resumed for operation.
