PIKEVILLE, KY (WOWK) — A Pikeville doctor was sentenced for illegally prescribing ADHD medication back in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Dr. Jason Stamper, 52, was sentenced to 32 months behind bars for prescribing Ritalin and Adderall — both medications used to treat ADHD — “without a legitimate medical purpose,” according to a press release.

They said law enforcement went undercover six times between April 15, 2022, and September 27, 2022, where Dr. Stamper did not do any medical examinations or look into a reason for them to have a prescription.

The USDOJ said Dr. Stamper also didn’t do anything when the officers didn’t get blood work done, increased their doses or switched between Ritalin and Adderall.

Stamper needs to serve 85% of his prison sentence, according to the DOJ. They said once he is released, he will be under supervision for three years.
