Remsen St. Mary’s Softball drops consolation matchup with No. 2 Wayne
The Remsen St. Mary’s softball team ended their season in a consolation matchup at the state tournament with a loss to No. 2 Wayne by a score of 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks gave up a couple of big innings early on to the tune of two Wayne runs in the first and six Wayne runs in the third. Remsen St. Mary’s head coach Monte Harpenau says he knew that the Falcons were capable of big innings.

Monthly Food Truck To Visit Journey Christian Church Saturday
WAYNE – With the end of the month approaching, the next Wayne Mobile Food Truck is scheduled for this Saturday, July 27. Food-insecure individuals and families in Wayne County along with surrounding communities will be able to benefit from the monthly food pantry truck which is scheduled to be in town this weekend. Wildcat Baseball Collects ABCA Team Academic Award

Missouri lawsuits allege abuse by priests, nuns; archdiocese leader in Omaha among those accused
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Sixty people allege in new lawsuits filed in Missouri that they were abused as children by dozens of priests, nuns and others, and the man who now leads the Archdiocese of Omaha, Nebraska, is among the accused. Five separate lawsuits seeking unspecified damages were filed this week in St. Louis and neighboring counties. All told, the lawsuits name 56 alleged abusers. The suits seek unspecified damages. Among those named is Omaha Archbishop George Lucas. He is accused of abusing a teenage boy at St. Louis Preparatory Seminary in the late 1980s. Lucas strongly denies the allegations, saying in a statement that he has never had sexual contact with another person.
