Monthly Food Truck To Visit Journey Christian Church Saturday
WAYNE – With the end of the month approaching, the next Wayne Mobile Food Truck is scheduled for this Saturday, July 27. Food-insecure individuals and families in Wayne County along with surrounding communities will be able to benefit from the monthly food pantry truck which is scheduled to be in town this weekend. Food is provided by Food Bank for the Heartland, a member of Feeding America.
Wildcat Baseball Collects ABCA Team Academic Award
WAYNE – Following a deep run in the NSIC Baseball Tournament this past spring, Wayne State College was also leading the way in the classroom. According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, the WSC baseball team has received the 2023-24 ABCA Team Academic Award announced by the coaches’ association office in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Aging infrastructure has become a growing concern at many Norfolk Public Schools, potentially translating into more dollars needed for building renovations. According to Nejla Muminovic of the Norfolk Daily News, associate superintendent of business services Erik Wilson presented an update on facilities district wide, saying some building infrastructure, dehumidification systems and HVAC machines are in need of facelifts.

PENDER, Neb. (KCAU) – Pender girls basketball standout Maya Dolliver announced her commitment to continue her basketball career at the University of Sioux Falls. Dolliver has been a key piece to the Pendragons’ back-to-back state championships in Nebraska, leading the team in scoring at 13.9 points per game as a junior.

Missouri lawsuits allege abuse by Catholic priests, nuns. Archdiocese leader in Omaha among them
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Sixty people allege in new lawsuits filed in Missouri that they were abused as children by dozens of Catholic priests, nuns and others, and the man who now leads the Archdiocese of Omaha, Nebraska, is among the accused. Five separate lawsuits seeking unspecified damages were filed this week in St. Louis and neighboring counties. All told, the lawsuits name 56 alleged abusers. The suits seek unspecified damages. Among those named is Omaha Archbishop George Lucas. He is accused of abusing a teenage boy at St. Louis Preparatory Seminary in the late 1980s. Lucas strongly denies the allegations, saying in a statement that he has never had sexual contact with another person.
Columbus and Fremont to play regular season high school football game at Memorial Stadium
LINCOLN - Columbus and Fremont will play the 105th meeting of the historic F&C Cup, Highway 30 rivalry at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday, Sept. 21. Originally scheduled to be played in Fremont, the two squads will face off in a stand-alone game at the home of the Huskers. This is the same week that Nebraska hosts Illinois on Friday night. SYRACUSE – Competition at the Otoe County Fair’s open class crops and vegetables show is linking generations. Duane Hansen of Syracuse still reigns with the premiere gardener points after 26 entries this year and 13 first place ribbons. Hansen set a new standard last year with a four pound onion, but he wasn’t in the top three this year.
