Texas teen wins $16k for prom suit made of duct tape

A North Texas high schooler has won a $15,000 prize for his creation of a charro-style suit using 12 rolls of duct tape.

State of play: Isaac Cervantes, of Pilot Point, won the "Stuck at Prom" contest.

• In his submission video, Cervantes said he spent about 123 hours assembling the suit, a belt and the sombrero. He also designed a monarch butterfly insert for the back of his jacket.
• The monarch joins the Mexican and U.S. flags to represent the two cultures that have defined the teen, Cervantes said in his contest submission.

What they're saying : "We thought about how a monarch butterfly travels between countries to begin their families. This would be a perfect representation of the journey my parents went through," Cervantes told an Austin TV station .
