The National Weather Service is keeping Maricopa and Pinal counties under an excessive heat warning through July 11.

Temperatures in the Valley are expected to reach 114 degrees over the next several days, according to the forecasters, who noted temperatures in some areas could top out at 117.

Valley residents should limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated and find shelter with air conditioning, NWS officials said.

“Using just a fan to stay cool during extreme heat isn't enough,” they stated in a release.
