Meteor passed over NYC, Statue of Liberty Tuesday: NASA
A number of tri-state area residents reported feeling a shaking or hearing a loud boom Tuesday morning leading to quite the mystery. NASA is estimating a meteor passed through the area between 10 a.m. and noon and would account for people saying they saw a fireball in the sky. NASA said simultaneous military activity in the area may account the shaking or boom residents felt.
Town supervisor: Facility breakdowns in Cornwall likely caused by intense heat
Cornwall officials are trying to keep the town's two main places to cool off open as its infrastructure shows its age. Munger Cottage – the town's popular community center – is closed through Wednesday because the building's HVAC system could not bring the inside temperature down to a comfortable level. All daytime activities at Munger Cottage were canceled.
