New York State Police Say Orange County Man Died in Head-On Crash
State Police says that they are continuing to investigate a fatal three-way crash that claimed the life of a Hudson Valley man Thursday. The victim wasn't even involved in the initial crash either, according to a preliminary report. However, the impact from the first collision subsequently sent a semi-truck into the opposite lane, which then struck the victim's vehicle, says offcials.

NOAA seeks advisory council for proposed marine sanctuary in Pa. portion of Lake Erie
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is seeking people to give advice about a proposed national marine sanctuary in Lake Erie adjacent to Erie County. The council would include representatives from various user groups, such as fishing, diving, economic development, education, maritime heritage and the public at large. Known as a pre-designation Sanctuary Advisory Council, it would provide recommendations to NOAA on the proposed designation and operation of the Lake Erie National Marine Sanctuary. The start of the week will consist of hot and humid conditions along with the chance for showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will be in the upper-80s and lower-90s. Heat index values will be in the mid to upper-90s, and close to 100 in some cases. Heat advisory is in effect starting at noon today until Tuesday night. A shower or two will be possible in the morning, but the greatest chance will be in the afternoon and evening. A few thunderstorms could be strong to severe with damaging winds and heavy rain possible. The chance for scattered thunderstorms sticks around tonight with lows in the mid to upper-60s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast through Wednesday. Temperatures will remain in the 90s on Tuesday and behind the passage of a cold front Wednesday, temperatures will be in the mid to upper-80s. The late week is looking dry with fair skies on Thursday and the chance for a passing shower. Most should remain dry. Friday will be mostly sunny. Highs will be in the lower-80s. We are back to the mid-80s this upcoming weekend with partly sunny skies. We could see the chance for showers by Sunday.
