Gas leak causes evacuation in parts of city
Pine County Sheriff Jeff Nelson reported that a gas leak was caused by a fiber company who was boring in broadband in Pine City and hit a line. The gas leak caused a strong natural gas smell to the west and east sides of Highway 61 by Caseys and Maytag with the blocks to the west of Maytag being evacuated.
‘Gamechanger’ raises funds to support Pine City athletic programs
The Pine City Athletic Committee held its third annual event at the Pine County Fairgrounds this past weekend. All proceeds from the event go towards new throwing areas for the track and field teams, complete with larger throwing pads and nets. The committee will begin the process of installing those areas later this summer.

HINCKLEY, MN, (July 05, 2024) - An Eagan woman was injured on July 5 when the motorcycle she was a passenger on crashed in Pine County. According to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol, a Harley-Davidson Road King was traveling north on Interstate 35 when, at around 7:24 p.m., the driver attempted to exit at Highway 48. While exiting, the driver made contact with a traffic cone and lost control. The motorcycle came to rest in the left ditch.

PINE CITY, Minn. — Authorities in Pine County are asking for the public's assistance in finding a 15-year-old girl last seen in mid-June.The Pine County Sheriff's Office says Destiny Rae Matrious left her residence in Pine City overnight on June 16 and had not returned.Investigators believe Matrious may be in the Danbury and Siren, Wisconsin areas.Matrious is described as 5'4" and around 180 lbs with black hair and brown eyes.Anyone with information on the girl's whereabouts is asked to call the Pine County Sheriff's Office at 320-629-8380 or call 911.
