Troopers Say Man Tried To Kidnap 12-Year-Old In Smyrna
Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping of a child that occurred last night in Smyrna. Officials said on Saturday evening, at approximately 8:41 p.m., troopers responded to Spruce Court in Holly Hills Estates in Smyrna for a suspicious person. When troopers arrived, they learned that an unknown white male suspect approached a 12-year-old and began to ask the child questions. While the suspect was asking questions, he grabbed the child by the arm. The child was able to get away and call for help. Troopers and detectives searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate him. The child was not hurt during the incident.
Nanticoke Indian Tribe to host annual powwow Sept. 7-8
Hudson Fields near Milton will host the Nanticoke Indian Tribe’s 46th Annual Powwow from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7 and 8, at 30045 Eagle Crest Road, Milton. Entrance fees are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 11-17, and free for children 10 and under.

The 2024 Delaware Burger Battle was held Saturday at Rockford Park in Wilmington. 11 local restaurants and eating establishments competed under Rockford Tower. Chelsea Tavern in Wilmington won the Critic's Choice Award for their "The Redemption Burger" - a Wisconsin butter burger with sharp white cheddar cheese, pepper bacon, fried pickle, lettuce and Redemption Sauce on a fresh baked brioche bun.

Suspect in custody after deadly shooting at apartment complex in New Castle County
A man is in custody after a deadly shooting took place at an apartment complex in Claymont, Delaware on Friday.It happened at Harbor House Apartments just before 10:30 a.m.At the scene, police say they found a 35-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.The victim, identified by police as Devontre Taylor of Wilmington, was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.According to police, authorities later found the suspect after he was seen entering a building in the apartment complex.The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Michael Toombs of Claymont, was detained at the building and transferred to police headquarters.Toombs has since been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and other related offenses.Investigators have not yet said what led to the deadly shooting.Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the police at 302-395-2787.
