Maturango Museum to feature 'Soaring - Flying High on the Power of Rising Air'
The new exhibit at the Maturango Museum, “Soaring - Flying High on the Power of Rising Air,” is open to the public. This exhibit features a single-seat Grob 102 Club III Glider. Due to its long wingspan, the glider cannot be fully assembled and displayed within the Sylvia Winslow Gallery. As a result, the wings are not attached to the fuselage but are placed on a rack behind the fuselage to demonstrate the relationship between the length of the wings and the fuselage. The glider is on loan from Cindy Brickner, a glider and airplane pilot residing in Mojave.

Borel fire threatens Bodfish, Lake Isabella
As Kern River Valley residents near the one week mark of the Borel Fire the loss of property and homes and the uncertainty of what’s next is on everyone’s mine. An accident last Wednesday in the Kern River canyon closed Highway 178 and started the destructive inferno now known as the Borel Fire. The highway remained closed as of press time.
