    Nature and nurture workshop day July 20 at Balsam Moon Preserve

    PINE RIVER — Summer busy-ness calls for time to slow down in nature, and Balsam Moon Preserve’s Nature and Nurture Day of workshops for all ages invites you to pause in nature for rest, renewal, re-energizing while learning.

    July 20 offers many options through the day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You may sign up for one session during the day, or participate in the full day by bringing a sack lunch for the lunch break. Each session runs 90 minutes with a lunch break from noon to 1 p.m.

    Workshops feature area instructors and include: Soil Health for field, garden or yard with Jim Etzel of Earth is Our Home; Storywalk for Kids (ages 5-10) with Joan Ingebrigtson and Rhoda Jackson; Sustainability Tour of Balsam Moon Preserve with Doug Weiss; Intro to Qigong with Julie Guth; Recycled Art Creation (all ages) with Christine Davidge of Christine Doodles; Ayurveda Basics with Aprile Lack of Sacred Valley Ayurveda; Photographing Nature tips and tricks with Tanya Villano; Wildcrafting (foraging) Medicinals and Wild Medicinals Make ‘n Take with Jenna Hadley-Johnson of Seeds of Healing Arts; Nature Craft (all ages) with Rhoda Jackson; Intro to Buddhism with Vladimir Zivkovic of Blue Lotus Meditation and Mindfulness Center; Grow Your Intuition with Karlene Plante; Labyrinth in the Woods with Barb Mann. Amy Kowalzek of KS Massage & Kowalzek Salves will also be available through the day for therapeutic massage & energy work sessions of 30, 60 or 90 minutes by appointment (320-630-0905, fee involved).

    Participants may come for one session or more, or do a session and then walk the trails and sit by the creek or the pond or up in the woods for a deep pause in nature.     Balsam Moon operates on reciprocity, meaning no fees are charged for classes and activities. Balsam Moon welcomes giving in accordance to what you receive based on your resources available. “Giving” could be money, labor, goods needed, expertise in offering a class, etc. This form of economy values many forms of exchange and allows for equitable access to classes and activities offered at BMP.

    Balsam Moon is located 10 miles west and south from Pine River at 3148 Bungo Creek Ln SW, Pine River. BMP is a non-profit organization sharing an alternative, sustainable, spiritual place of peace, honoring the earth and all living things. They offer trails, workshops, demonstrations of solar uses and alternative building methods, gardens, a labyrinth, a children’s story walk along one trail, overnight stays, pizza nights in the summer and opportunities to gather in community sharing our common humanity.
