Man carjacked, shot near Loring Park
MINNEAPOLIS — A man is fighting for his life after apparently being carjacked and shot overnight near Loring Park in Minneapolis. Police said in a release that officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Oak Grove St. just before 2 a.m. on reports of a shooting. Arriving squads found a man suffering from apparent life-threatening gunshot wounds, and started lifesaving efforts until paramedics arrived. DULUTH WOMAN ACCUSED OF STEALING $1K WORTH OF GAS
(Duluth, MN) — A Duluth woman is accused of stealing $1,000 worth of gasoline in Cass County gas stations and not paying for it. Sapphire Torres was arrested Monday and has been charged with one felony count of theft. Authorities say the defendant stole more than $1,000 of gas using a flatbed truck from at least three gas stations over six months. Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk is encouraging gas stations in northern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin to report similar incidents as there have been additional fuel thefts in the region – including a June 4th theft of $529 at a Remer gas station. The investigation began Monday evening when Swanson’s Bait & Tackle in Hackensack reported a fuel theft of $260 around 8:20 p.m. Previously that night, the corner store in Backus reported a $300 drive-off.
