She also announced that Boise State is close to achieving Research 1 status in the Carnegie Classifications system. R1 is Carnegie’s highest classification for research spending and doctorate production.

U of I’s Habib Institute for Asian Studies to present AsiaPOP! The Korean Wave starting Aug. 19
MOSCOW - The community is invited to a multiday event at University of Idaho promoting the appreciation and study of the Korean Wave and its influence on Asia and the world. AsiaPOP! events run Monday, Aug. 19, through Friday, Sept. 13, and include speakers from industry, government and the academy, as well as art and culture exhibits and movie screenings. All events are free and open to the public.
Grizzly Bear Relocated To Island Park Area After Killing Calf
On August 13, 2024, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) relocated an adult male grizzly bear after it was determined that the bear had killed a domestic calf near Highway 20 and the Buffalo River. Community invited to family-friendly music festival happening this weekend
RIRIE — A local music festival will take place this weekend that will not only offer music, but a variety of family-friendly activities. The South Fork Music Fest will be held Friday, Aug. 16 to Saturday, Aug. 17 along the South Fork of the Snake River at Aspen Grove Inn near Heise Bridge in Ririe. This is the festival’s first year open to the public, as the past two years the event was an artist showcase only for friends and families of the musicians performing.
Motorcyclist injured in crash at south Pocatello intersection
POCATELLO — A man suffered injuries Wednesday when he crashed his motorcycle at a south Pocatello intersection. Pocatello police said the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. at South Valley Road and Bannock Highway. The adult male motorcyclist was transported via Pocatello Fire Department ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center for treatment. He’s expected to survive, police said. No other vehicles were reportedly involved in the accident. The motorcyclist’s name and further details on how the crash occurred weren’t immediately available. The accident remains under investigation by Pocatello police.
