A Greenville man was charged with driving while impaired after he drove his vehicle into a ditch in southwestern Pitt County. At 10:55 p.m. July 22, the State Highway Patrol responded to an unspecified stretch of Bell Arthur Road where a 1994 Lincoln passenger car had crossed the center line and careened off the left side of the roadway into a ditch. 2 people in custody after a multi-county chase exceeding 100 mph
A multi-county car chase ended in two people in custody Friday night.It started just before 10 p.m. in Sampson County.Deputies tried to stop a White Nissan Maxima traveling south on Highway 701. The driver then went westbound on I-40 toward Johnston County.The chase continued into Harnett County. The driver then took exit 71 and headed back toward Sampson County.Authorities said speeds exceeded 100 mph during the chase.Deputies set up a stop stick before NC Highway 242 before Spivey's Corner. Before 10:30 p.m., the driver hit the stop stick, causing their tires to deflate.The female driver is in custody, along with the male passenger. Their identities have not been released yet.The chase lasted around 30 minutes.

Farmville church raises funds for co-pastor's liver transplant; daughter to serve as living donor (copy)
FARMVILLE — In the spirit of giving and helping a neighbor in need, members of Salvation and Praise Full Gospel Church Ministries in Farmville hosted a liver transplant benefit service on July 21. More than 100 people attended the event. The benefit was organized to assist Suzanne Sheppard, co-pastor at Victory & Dominion World Outreach Center in Snow Hill. Sheppard has been struggling with health issues since she was diagnosed with liver disease in 2011. Her health has slowly deteriorated during the past 13 years. ...
