A top-notch song since 2020. The Eastern Kentucky artist and Sundy Best frontman is among the best in the business and highly underrated. OurVinyl Session shed light on Nicholas Jamerson's talent, giving fans an up-close and personal get-to-know of his songwriting session through his stunning acoustic performance. And now, a large artist is shining light on his talent. During Laurel Cove Festival in Pineville, Kentucky, earlier this summer,
Wyatt Flores asked Jamerson to join him on stage. The two performed one of Jamerson's most popular songs, "Linda James." The song is on his 2020 album, The Wilder Frontier, and details the life of one of Jamerson's dear friends and how folks from small towns can leave lasting impacts on you. "This song is a special one for me. I wrote it last fall after we lost one of our dear friends to the Prestonsburg community, Mrs. Linda James. It's an interesting experience going through life, getting older, and losing people through death. When you grow up in a small town, there are so many people that accompany you through life. Sometimes, only through death do you understand how present some folks were. Linda was one of those people." Jamerson wrote in 2018 on
Facebook , two years before the song was released. While those at the festival and some who saw snippets on social media could experience the magic of this duo, Flores decided that his fans needed to see the whole performance and discover Jamerson's masterful songwriting (if they were not already familiar with it). "When I found out I was going to headline Laurel Cove, I instantly started thinking of ways I could pay tribute and say thank you to the artists in the Appalachian scene for not only allowing me to share their stage but also inspiring me as an artist in so many ways. I’ve looked up to Nicholas Jamerson as a musician and songwriter since the first time I saw him at Laurel Cove a couple of years ago, and I was honored he joined me to sing 'Linda James' this year."
Flores plays a few of the song's opening notes and tells the crowd he'd love for Jamerson to join him on stage. The audience goes wild for the hometown favorite. They knock this duet out of the park, and viewers are dialed in from the performance's first to the last second. I am so glad someone with the following, like Wyatt Flores, is using his reach to highlight artists like Jamerson. I'd kill for these two to cut a duet of "Linda James" in the studio now. Add it to the wish list... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIr02sMNozQ
