Louisiana State Police: Pineville man, 69, dies in Saturday crash

The 34th road fatality of 2024 in Troop E was recorded Saturday afternoon after a two-car crash that killed a Pineville man, according to Louisiana State Police.

Oddis L. Dunbar Jr., 69, died at the scene of the crash on La. Highway 3170, the road that runs between U.S. Highway 71 and La. Highway 1 by Louisiana State University at Alexandria.

The wreck happened around 2 p.m. when an Alexandria man, 68-year-old Donald R. Jones, crossed the center line of the two-lane road in his 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck and hit Dunbar's 2023 Hyundai sports-utility vehicle head on, reads a news release.

Dunbar was wearing a seat belt, as was Jones, it reads. Jones suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
