Second sewer spill this month impacting Rocky Mount residents, Tar River
A sewer spill has been impacting Rocky Mount residents for nearly a week. This comes one week after another spill in the exact same spot. The city of Rocky Mount said on Facebook that the spill started on the morning of Aug. 8 at a manhole under the trestle on River Side Drive. According to the city, the sewer overflow was caused by "significant rainfall being experienced in the region."
City of Fayetteville, homeowners dispute over who should fix road damaged by Debby
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Homeowners are fighting with the City of Fayetteville over who should fix a washed-out road after Tropical Storm Debby. A portion of Siple Avenue collapsed after the dam under the road breached during the storm. There is a lot of debate over who should be responsible for repairs. The City of Fayetteville said it’s a city road. However, city officials said Rayconda Lake and Dam under the road are owned by Rayconda Homeowners Association.
