Structures, Livestock Lost as Wildfire in South-Central Idaho Nears 200,000 Acres
The wildfire burning north of Emmett has slowed its growth rate but is still expanding. The Paddock fire has burned more than 187,000 acres and was 31% contained as of Tuesday morning. The blaze was ignited by lightning on Monday, Aug. 5, and is expected to grow “as crews continue to monitor and improve established perimeters.”

A hub for natural medicine resources is moving up into its own space in west downtown Boise. For the past five years, The Vervain Collective operated its full-service apothecary stocked with plant medicine, dried herbs, powders, tinctures and health foods out of a section of the Roots Zero Waste Market on Chinden Boulevard. Now, the shop is looking to spread its wings and relocate to a larger space of its own on the ground floor of the new Travis condo building at the corner of 17th and Bannock Streets later this year.

Fugitive wanted for stalking arrested by marshals in Rupert neighborhood
RUPERT — The U.S. Marshal Service Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Austin Allen Genius pursuant to a felony arrest warrant issued on May 9 for two counts of first degree stalking issued by the 3rd Judicial District Court in Canyon County and for a parole violation issued by the Idaho Department of Correction stemming from a previous criminal conviction for stalking in 2021.
