Joni Mitchell will release the next installment of her archival series, Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol. 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980), on Oct. 4. Highlights from this collection include recordings and alternate takes from three of Mitchell's albums, Hejira, Don Juan's Reckless Daughter and Mingus, plus live cuts from various tours, including Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue. It will be released as a 6-CD/digital version, as well as a 4-LP version that consists of Mitchell's "personal favorites" from the 6-CD version. Both can be pre-ordered now.

Rhino has announced Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol. 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980), a period in which the extraordinary singer-songwriter continued to creatively break ground with her fearless and fluid exploration of jazz. The collection, coming on 6-CDs and 4-LPs (highlights) on October 4, 2024, includes powerful live tracks from her time in Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue during the 1975 and 1976 tour of the U.S., along with previously unissued material from original stereo reels, cassette tapes, CD-Rs, and even a radio broadcast. Actor Buddy Ebsen, who died at age 95 in 2003, found fame by starring in two of the most popular classic television shows in history: The Beverly Hillbillies (CBS, 1962 to 1971) and Barnaby Jones (CBS, 1973 to 1980). On the Hillbillies, he played former Tennessee country mountain-folk-turned-wealthy Beverly Hills resident Jed Clampett. On Barnaby Jones, he was one of TV's most senior, slyest, health-conscious detectives. Ebsen, however, almost became even more famous for a certain big-screen classic film in which he ultimately did not appear.
