Magdalena Bay Announce New Album Imaginal Disk, Share Song and Video: Watch
Magdalena Bay have announced their second album, Imaginal Disk. The alt-pop duo will release the Mercurial World follow-up on August 23 via Mom+Pop. Amanda Kramer directed an uncannily psychedelic video for new single “Image,” which you can watch below. Introducing the song, the duo said in a press release, “Close your eyes. Imagine a brand new, better you. Now wait 22 minutes. Now open your eyes. Meet your brand new image! Isn’t it amazing that the meat in our heads can do this?”
Galaxie 500 Announce Archival Album, Unearth New Songs: Listen
Galaxie 500 have announced a new album of outtakes, B-sides, rarities, and previously unreleased tracks. The collection, Uncollected Noise New York ’88-’90, will be released digitally via 20/20/20 on September 20. (Silver Current Records is handling the vinyl, CD, and cassette releases.) Sunset Rubdown Announce Tour and First Album in 15 Years, Share Song: Listen
Sunset Rubdown are back with their first music in 15 years. “Reappearing Rat,” which you can find below along with a new batch of tour dates, leads Always Happy to Explode, the cult alt-rock band’s follow-up to the 2009 LP Dragonslayer. The album arrives on September 20 via Spencer Krug’s own label, Pronounced Kroog. The song’s video is directed by Derek Janzen and stars Aaron Read.
Dinosaur Jr. to Reissue Farm for 15th Anniversary
Dinosaur Jr. have announced a reissue of their 2009 album Farm. The new vinyl edition of Farm features four bonus songs that were previously exclusive to a bonus CD. Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme to Undergo Emergency Surgery, Band Cancels European Tour
Queens of the Stone Age have canceled their European tour to allow Josh Homme to fly home for emergency surgery. The band did not reveal the nature of the surgery, but Homme disclosed in 2023 that he had undergone successful treatment for cancer. In a statement, the band said this morning (July 9), “QOTSA regret to announce that Josh Homme must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery. Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue.”
