Fresh off his Album of the Year win, for Michael, at the 2024 BET Awards, Killer Mike has dropped a new single. “Humble Me” comes with a black-and-white music video in which the rapper is stripped of his jewelry and placed in handcuffs. Through the lyrics, Killer Mike addresses his arrest at the 2024 Grammy Awards and compares “sitting in a room full of cops” to the Biblical story of Daniel in the lions’ den. Check it out below.
Donald Glover Unveils Trailer for New Movie Bando Stone & the New World
Donald Glover has shared the trailer for his new movie Bando Stone & the New World, which he directed, starred in, and scored as Childish Gambino. In the drop-down description for the trailer, he also revealed that the song “Lithonia” will come out July 2. The trailer shows Glover—who plays the titular Bando Stone—trying to deliver mail in an abandoned town before crossing paths with one of the only other people around, played by Jessica Allain. The two decide to band together, along with Allain’s child, to survive monsters, dinosaurs, sci-fi lasers, and more. Watch it below.

Chvrches’ Iain Cook has made a new remix of the Cranberries’ 1993 single “Linger.” Listen to the new track below. According to a press release, Cook made his new track by deconstructing the original and reassembling it, keeping intact the vocal melody of the late singer Dolores O’Riordan. “When I got the stems, the first thing I did was listen to Dolores’ vocal tracks in isolation,” he explained. “Hearing those for the first time was magical; I was shocked by the intimacy and emotion in her performance. The first thing I did was to sit with the vocals on their own and rework the chords on piano. I often find that this is a great starting point with remixes as it helps you to shake off some associations that you have with the song, and this is a song which I’ve known and loved for over 30 years.”

Kinky Friedman, the tongue-in-cheek humorist and alt-country musician of the Texas Jewboys, has died, bandmate Little Jewford confirmed to The New York Times. “Kinky Friedman stepped on a rainbow at his beloved Echo Hill surrounded by family & friends,” reads a statement posted to the late artist’s social media. “Kinkster endured tremendous pain & unthinkable loss in recent years but he never lost his fighting spirit and quick wit. Kinky will live on as his books are read and his songs are sung.” Friedman was 79.
Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes to Write Original Music for New Broadway Play Job
Blood Orange musician Devonté Hynes has joined the creative team of Job. He will compose original music for the play, which set to open at Broadway’s Hayes Theater in July. “Anyone familiar with Dev’s work already knows what a naturally brilliant storyteller he is, so it’s no surprise that his work on Job not only enriches the thematic and narrative threads but also deepens the emotional resonance of the play,” one of the show’s producers, Hannah Getts, said in a press statement. “We are thrilled to integrate his innovative musical vision into the fabric of Job.”
The Who’s Tommy to Close on Broadway After Fourth-Month Revival

Neil Young & Crazy Horse Cancel Remaining Tour Dates Due to Illness
Neil Young & Crazy Horse have canceled their upcoming tour dates due to “a couple of us” suffering from a lingering illness, the same one that caused the band to cancel their shows in Chicago, Austin, and Dallas in May. Young did not specify if he is one of those members who’s sick. The affected tour dates include seven Canadian shows and eight U.S. dates, including Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s set at Eddie Vedder’s Ohana Fest.

On Monday, June 24, during a pre-trial discovery conference in the long-running civil case between FKA twigs and her former boyfriend Shia LaBeouf, lawyers for twigs argued that LaBeouf’s team is “improperly seeking Plaintiff’s [FKA twigs’] private financial and medical information that has no bearing on the issues in this case.”

This year’s Glastonbury headline sets, from Dua Lipa and Coldplay, will stream live via the BBC website. Extensive coverage of the festival routinely airs in the United Kingdom, but this is the first year in which global audiences can watch along. Dua Lipa’s headline set, on Friday, June 28, is due to run from 5-6:45 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, before Coldplay’s set the following night at 4:45-6:45 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Head to the BBC website then to watch the live sets for free. The sets will stream on-demand for 10 days after the artists’ respective sets.
Killer Mike Will Not Face Criminal Charges Over 2024 Grammys Arrest
In February, after winning three trophies at the 2024 Grammy Awards, Killer Mike was arrested at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena and booked for misdemeanor battery following an incident with a security guard. The Los Angeles city attorney’s office has now declined to file and pursue formal criminal charges against the Run the Jewels artist, TMZ reports.

Wilco are listing over a dozen new items on their Reverb shop, which they launched last year. Among the offerings from the Loft—their famous Chicago studio—are vintage guitars, Soviet-built oddities, signed posters, and mystery boxes of effects pedals. One of those rarities is a 1962 Martin F-55 from Jeff Tweedy’s personal collection. “It’s a rare bird.
