Hundred Waters singer and multi-instrumentalist Nicole Miglis has announced her debut solo album. Myopia is out August 23 via Sargent House, and you can listen to a new song, “Autograph,” now. It comes with a music video in which two versions of Miglis dine out together at a trendy restaurant. As the clip continues, it’s revealed that Miglis also works as a waitress, chef, and artist. King Krule has surprise released a new EP, Shhhhhhh!, via XL and Matador, and it comes with a video for new song “Time for Slurp.” The EP comprises four tracks previously sold in limited numbers, in the months before King Krule’s last album, Space Heavy, as a tour-only flexi-disc: “Achtung,” “All Soup Now,” and “Whaleshark,” as well as “Time for Slurp.” A 7" of the EP will follow, in addition to the digital edition released today.

James Chance Dies at 71
James Chance, the bandleader and singer-saxophonist of influential punk-funk groups including the Contortions and Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, died yesterday in New York after a long period of illness. His brother David Siegfried, organizer of a GoFundMe for the late artist, did not disclose a cause of death, but wrote that the family joined him in his final days to share “memories of his time in music, childhood and family.” James Chance was 71 years old.

The Softies Announce Tour and First Album in 24 Years, Share Video for New Song: Watch
The Softies, the indie-pop duo of Rose Melberg and Jen Sbragia who helped define the Pacific Northwest twee scene in the 1990s, are back. They’re releasing their first new album in 24 years, The Bed I Made, on August 23 via Father/Daughter. Lead single “I Said What I Said” comes with a lush music video directed by Alicia J. Rose in which Melberg and Sbragia perform the song in the middle of the woods on a sunny day. Check it out below.
Selected Ambient Works Volume II
Aphex Twin has announced an expanded edition of his album Selected Ambient Works Volume II. The pioneering 1994 LP will be released in all formats for the first time October 4 via Warp, arriving in digital, 3xCD, double-cassette, and 4xLP standard and box set editions, which include a fold-out poster, sticker sheet, and booklet containing sketches for the original artwork by designer Paul Nicholson. The release also features the previously vinyl-only track “#19,” which Aphex Twin has also shared today, alongside two additional tracks, “Th1 [Evnslower]” and “Rhubarb Orc. 19.53 Rev.” Check out “#19” and the expanded edition tracklist below.

Scooter Braun Quits Music Management
Scooter Braun has said he will retire from music management to focus on his role as a CEO of the South Korean entertainment giant Hybe America. The longtime manager of artists including Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, who became the subject of opprobrium when he acquired Taylor Swift’s masters in 2019, said on social media that he had joined the board of Hybe’s U.S. division and would go forward as “a father first, a CEO second, and a manager no more.” Read a transcription of his full note below, via The Hollywood Reporter.
