    Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment awards $103,000 in grants

    The Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment has awarded $103,000 in grants to programs that improve the lives of women and girls locally.

    “Local nonprofits are the backbone of our communities, just as women and girls are the heart of the family,” said Devinder Culver, Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment committee member. “The impacts of the gifts from the Endowment are immeasurable as they are truly investments in building healthy, safe communities.

    "They help to feed our grandmas, safeguard our families and empower our youth by supporting,and building the capacity of the organizations delivering these vital services," Culver said.

    The endowment granted:

    $5,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain for SMART Girls with social-emotional wellness programming.$5,000 to CareNet Counseling East for Right-Ing One's Narrative: Gaining Understanding, Skills, and Vision for a Better Life.$15,000 to Center for Family Violence Prevention for the New Directions Safe House and crisis intervention.$10,000 to Hope of Glory Ministries for the Community Co-op.$5,000 to House of HUGS for Women and Children for the HUGS Life EnRICHment Program.$12,500 to Koinonia Community Solutions, StrongHER (Healthy, Empowered and Resilient) Girls of Pitt County.$12,000 to NC Stop Human Trafficking to meet basic needs of survivors of human trafficking.$7,500 to Operation Sunshine, Inc., for general operating support.$14,300 to the Pitt County Council on Aging for Feeding Our Grandmas$5,000 to the Pitt County Health Department for nurse-family partnership client support.$6,000 to the Pitt County Health Department — Health Education Department for youth development infant simulation program.$5,700 to The Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina for Girls Empowered.

    Founded in 2005, Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment has a deep history of grantmaking and community impact. After making $750,000 in grants to charitable organizations over 15 years, it transitioned to become an endowment at the North Carolina Community Foundation in 2020, using NCCF's infrastructure to leverage resources and increase capacity in the community for perpetuity.

    Since partnering with NCCF, Women for Women of Pitt County has awarded $385,000 in grants.

    The North Carolina Community Foundation brings together generous people and connects them to causes and organizations they care about, with a focus on inspiring lasting and meaningful philanthropy in the state’s rural communities.

    With $400 million in assets, NCCF sustains more than 1,200 endowments and partners with donors and a network of affiliates in 60 counties to strengthen the state.

    By stewarding and growing donors’ gifts, NCCF makes a powerful impact through a grants and scholarships program, awarding over $270 million since 1988.
